Canopies/Awnings - FAQ

Is it possible for you to come to my residence to provide a quotation?
We are pleased to offer our services within the Greater Manchester area. If your residence falls within this region, we can arrange a visit to your home or installation site. This allows us to gain a clearer understanding of the design requirements and provide you with a more accurate quotation.
What is the price of your custom-made canopy or awning?
For a canopy or awning with a 1.5m projection and 3m width (covering 4.5 sqm), the cost is around £1,200. For a high-end, custom patio cover with a 3m projection and 5m width (15 sqm), the price is approximately £3,800. Freestanding patio covers or gazebos might be about £4,500. Additional costs include around £100 for lighting and £400-1,000 for installation*. Currently, we have a 'Summer Offer' for up to 25% off. All prices include VAT.
What reasons justify the higher pricing of your Canopy system compared to other sellers?
Kindly note that our pricing reflects the fact that we are a local business committed to delivering a personalized experience coupled with a 10-year warranty*. Our service revolves around a top-tier, entirely custom design approach, ensuring that each project is one-of-a-kind. Moreover, every project is accompanied by a unique bespoke 3D drawing. Our canopy system stands out due to its robust, powder-coated aluminum frame and durable clear solid polycarbonate glazing, with the addition of alternative colors in the near future. This translates to a significantly superior glazing system and framework in terms of strength and quality. Furthermore, our canopy system comes complete with a gutter and rainwater drain, along with meticulous modern design detailing.
Do you offer installation services?
Certainly, we offer nationwide installation services. We are also open to guiding the installation process if you choose to work with your preferred third-party contractors. It's important to note that our canopies are designed with the intention of being installed by a skilled builder or a capable DIY enthusiast. For safety and quality reasons, we recommend that any installation be carried out by a qualified tradesperson or builder.
What does the term "Projection" mean?
Projection pertains to the extent of the canopy's outward extension from the wall. This measurement disregards the pitch and is taken as though the tape measure lies flat on the ground beneath the canopy.
In what manner are canopies typically quantified?
Canopies are assessed using the metric system (meters and centimeters). The width is defined as the dimension along the wall, while the measurement from the building to the gutter segment is termed as the projection.
What dimensions do the canopies come in?
Given our fully tailored approach, our canopies can be custom-made to accommodate any width and a projection of up to 6m, depending on the specific product you select.
How straightforward is the installation process for the canopies?
Comprehensive assembly instructions are included with every canopy. Installation of the canopies typically requires a minimum of two individuals, and in some cases, posts might need to be installed below ground level, necessitating some initial positioning work. If you have uncertainties, we recommend reaching out to a qualified builder or contacting our Sales Office for guidance. Alternatively, we can connect you with one of our reputable installers. As an example, fitting a 6m x 2.5m Patio Cover usually takes two skilled individuals a full day of work.
What should I do in case my product arrives damaged?
If you've directly purchased from us, please get in touch with us regarding any damage to your product within the warranty period. If you've made your purchase through a retailer or builder, ensure to contact them with your receipt for assistance with damaged items. It's important to understand that we're not responsible for any damages occurring during installation, as this is a matter between you and the builder/installer.
What materials are used to construct the canopies?
Crafted from naturally rust-resistant aluminum frames, our canopies are available in a selection of two colors and offer a choice between Standard and High-Strength Aluminum frames. The glazing is composed of robust, impact-resistant polycarbonate material.
What is a cantilever?
A cantilever structure, similar to our awnings, is a solid architectural component that projects horizontally and receives support solely at one extremity. Usually, it protrudes from a flat vertical surface, such as a wall, necessitating secure attachment.
What is the maximum extension length of a cantilevered awning?
The potential extension length of a cantilevered awning is heavily influenced by the characteristics of the supporting wall. Our awnings can reach an extension of up to 2.2 meters (projection), although we typically design them to extend 1.2 to 1.5 meters out.
Do canopies provide good value for the money?
Indeed, canopies offer more than just aesthetic and practical enhancements to your garden or property; they also provide an excellent opportunity to gain extra protection from various weather conditions.
Are VAT charges included in your prices?
VAT is applicable, but all the prices listed here are exclusive of VAT.
What is the expected duration for the installation process?
The installation of a typical standard patio-cover canopy, such as one measuring 6m x 2.5m, usually requires two trained individuals working for a full day. However, the exact duration may vary depending on the specific type of property or business premise. Upon placing an order, the Builder/Installer will provide guidance on the expected installation timeframe.
What level of maintenance is necessary?
Our canopy frames are constructed from powder-coated aluminium, ensuring exceptional strength and minimal maintenance requirements. They are resistant to rust and do not necessitate additional treatments or painting.
What is the recommended method for cleaning the canopy?
For maintaining the canopy in excellent condition, we suggest periodically following these cleaning guidelines: 1. Ensure that gutters are clear of debris, such as fallen leaves, to allow unobstructed water flow into the outlet. 2. To eliminate any dirt or marks on the supporting beams, use a mixture of warm water and washing up liquid along with a soft cloth. 3. If there is a buildup of bird droppings or dirt on the roofing sheets, you can clean them using warm soapy water. 4. Using a long-handled brush along with a step ladder might make the cleaning process more convenient. While some canopies are designed to support walking, it's advisable to use a crawler board to evenly distribute the weight. Always prioritize your safety when on top of the canopy or while using ladders, and if feasible, have another person present.
What planning permission is required?
The typical residential canopy we provide measures 5 meters by 2.5 meters, totaling an area of 12.5 square meters. Generally, structures of this size do not necessitate planning permission for domestic use. Nonetheless, it's important to note that regulations may vary based on your specific location. This resource will provide insights into planning permissions relevant to carports, canopies, and other outbuildings, ensuring you are well-informed about your particular situation.
